More Than A Campaign... A Spiritual Journey
Our Future and Hope capital campaign should be much more than a mere fund-raising exercise. The ultimate purpose for paying off our current debt and remodeling our facilities goes far beyond carpet and classrooms. Our primary goal should be to seek the Lord’s vision for the future of our church and allow every member of the church the opportunity to respond to God’s will for our church. If this simple spiritual purpose is not reached, no matter how much money is raised we cannot call the campaign a success. To that end encouraging members to pray, teaching Biblical principles of stewardship, and calling for obedience to God’s plan are all necessary components.
Our campaign prayer process should seek:
1. To discover God’s revealed vision for our church
2. Unity around God’s Word and Will
3. Discernment of God’s timing for implementing His vision
4. To understand God’s provision of resources to bring the vision to a reality
5. How to bring the vision to reality
The campaign must challenge members to pray therefore we must develop a process which clearly communicates the needs as well as urgently calling everyone to participate. Our goal as leaders is to see our members make spiritual, not coerced, commitments. Spiritual commitments come with a genuine conviction that is focused on God’s vision for our church to reach people with the gospel.
